Red Dead Redemption is set to make its long-awaited debut on PC this month, complete with a range of exciting improvements, including support for native 4K at 144Hz. After a wait of 14 years, Rockstar Games has officially announced that Red Dead Redemption, along with its Undead Nightmare expansion, will be available on PC starting October 29, 2024.

For the inaugural occasion, players have the opportunity to set off on John Marston’s remarkable journey on PC, experiencing enhanced visuals with both the main game and its unforgettable zombie-horror side story, Undead Nightmare, arriving on October 29, as stated in Rockstar’s announcement.

This re-release will be produced in collaboration with Double Eleven, and fans can look forward to accessing the game on platforms such as Steam, the Epic Games Platform, and Rockstar Store.

Rockstar also noted significant upgrades for the PC version, including support for native 4K resolution at rates of up to 144Hz on compatible systems. Players will also be able to utilize ultrawide (21:9) and super ultrawide (32:9) monitors, experience HDR10, and enjoy full keyboard and mouse compatibility.

The PC edition of Red Dead Redemption will boast support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, alongside features akin to NVIDIA’s DLSS Frame Generation, modifiable rendering distances, shadow quality tweaks, and more.

A recent trailer showcases the enhanced version set to debut on PC.

According to the details on Steam, this PC release will incorporate the entire single-player content of both games, including additional features from the Game of the Year Edition. Nevertheless, it is set to not include any multiplayer options.

Originally launched in 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Red Dead Redemption later became accessible on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch during 2023. The standalone expansion, Undead Nightmare, initially released in October 2010, introduced a zombie-themed single-player adventure, along with various multiplayer modes and cosmetic items.

This DLC, which also saw a re-release in 2023, presents an alternate storyline where John Marston embarks on a quest to uncover the source and potential remedy for a zombie outbreak.

The rumors about the game’s PC release circulated this summer, so Rockstar’s announcement didn’t come as a surprise.

Additionally, the studio is set to unveil what could be its most eagerly anticipated title yet, Grand Theft Auto 6, anticipated to launch in Fall 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Currently, there has been no verification concerning a PC version.
