During its original run in Destiny, Ice Breaker was instrumental for many teams attempting to conquer their first Nightfalls and even some raid challenges. Its ability to allow players to target bosses from safety, without significant risk, made it a favored choice, particularly for those who might not have had the highest gear scores yet exhibited great patience. Ice Breaker became a symbol of triumph for the community. Many fans believed its return was unlikely due to balancing issues, but now, after ten years, it is finally making a comeback.
